Many residents were without power for a few hours on December 21. The events leading up to the incident are interesting. At approximately 5:30 p.m., Madill Police Officer Alex Boren was dispatched to William Ray Park in Madill to respond to reports of a fight occurring in that area. Apparently, a truck fleeing from the melee struck a utility pole.

While in route to the scene, Boren was advised the truck had drove from the park to an area near the Madill wrestling room on Fifth Avenue, and the occupants – two males and a female, one was later identified as Aaron Thomason – jumped the fence to the baseball field.

As Boren approached from the southeast, he observed the suspects running to the south of the field. Changing directions, Boren entered the field from the south over the outfield fence and placed Thomason, and a juvenile female in handcuffs. Officer Gannon Reid detained the other juvenile male.

Boren proceeded to speak with the only adult in the group, Thomason, and removed a small backpack. Upon closer inspection, the backpack contained almost $200 in cash, five packages of cigarillos, and several medical marijuana containers.

Only one container had a burnt leafy substance which tested positive for Marijuana with the field test kit.

The officer read Thomason his Miranda Rights and Thomason began to speak with the officer.

The suspect admitted he had been at the park to play basketball and to “sell some, approximately a gram, of marijuana to another party who he refused to name but stated was from Ardmore.”

According to Thomason the “sale went south and the people who he was going to make the deal with decided to rob him and a fist fight ensued.”

Thomason informed Boren that one of the juveniles were driving and they attempted to drive away with the other subjects hanging from the truck.

That is when he struck the utility pole, smashing in the front of his truck.

The juvenile attempted to drive further, but only made it as far as the wrestling room. That is when the suspects attempted to flee on foot.

Boren transported Thomason to the Marshall County Jail to be booked and was informed that a bag of Marijuana was found on one of the juveniles. It tested positive for Marijuana and weighed approximately 28 grams.

Both juveniles were held till their custodians arrived, and officers were able to read them their Miranda Rights. The two juveniles confirmed Thomason’s story.

Thomason, an 18-year-old male from Ardmore is facing Possession of CDS with the Intent to Distribute.
