Tornados touch down in Marshall County

On March 21, 2022, two tornados hit Marshall County causing severe damage. Just one month shy of the two-year anniversary for the devastating tornado that hit Marshall County in 2020, it was confirmed that two tornados touched down in the same county. The Buncombe Creek area was hit, and other areas of the county suffered major damage. It also touched down in Mead, just outside of Kingston.

Reports state that several houses on Little Road were destroyed. Texoma Southern Baptist, and D&D Dispensary were completely destroyed. Reports are still coming in due to officials still assessing the damage.

The Kingston schools are closed. Also, the Kingston Band Room is open and available for anybody who needs a place to stay for the night, or just need a dry place to rest for a bit. Kathy Germany has places to house animals for displaced families.

For anybody wishing to donate items, they can be brought to Hope for Marshall County at 19123 Elizabeth Blvd. in Oakland, or INCA at 202 S. Capital in Tishomingo. Items needed are water, Gatorade, blankets, batteries, pet supplies, socks and hygiene items.
