Yes, summer is here, and it is going to be hot. With temperatures of 100 and heat indexes of well over that, remember to stay hydrated while working in the yard or playing at the lake.
If you have outdoor animals, make sure they have plenty of shade and water. Check on your senior neighbors occasionally to assure they are okay and if they need fans or some other items, check with local churches for help.
With extreme heat conditions comes dry grass, so please take precautions, avoid burning during this time.
There is still a need for more volunteers. All adults, male or female, interested in joining the Texoma Volunteer Fire Department, please contact Chief Todd Cissell at (580) 565-4491 or pickup an application from the mailbox at the station, fill it out and return to the station.
Chief Cissell will contact you. Everyone is welcome, so consider joining. The fire department truly needs your support.
Remember to be careful and keep an eye out for snakes, particularly rattle snakes.
