In the October 4, 2018 issue of The Madill Record, it was reported that a male Calera resident shot a man in Madill, ultimately taking his life. The shooting occurred on Wolf Street. Madill Police Chief David Yow was the original unit dispatched to the scene. According to the police report, other officers joined in the call.

Madill Police Officer Steven King received a tip from dispatch that somehow a red truck with a lift kit was involved and pulled over a truck matching the description. The shooter, Harold Macneil, was the driver of the truck. Macneil is being held in the Marshall County jail ahead of a court date at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11.

Unfortunately, the witness — the owner of the house where the victim, Robert Jordan resided — only knew the shooter as “Bishop.” Unable to find anything to link Macneil to the crime scene, he let the suspect go.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered that who the landlord knew as Drew Bishop was in fact Harold Macneil, the suspect in the red truck. Officers were able to get an address where Macneil was staying, and found him and his red truck at the residence.

After several attempts to get Macneil to exit his residence, and then in turn, cutting off his electricity, the suspect was arrested without incident. Once a search warrant was obtained, Yow recovered a 9mm shell casing that matched the one used at the crime scene in the truck.

Unfortunately, Robert Jordan succumbed to his injuries in route to the hospital. Macneil has subsequently been charged with First Degree Murder.

Fast forward to August 2019. Macneil is serving eight years for Possession of a CDS with the Intent to Distribute, and Possession of a Firearm after a Felony Conviction. These charges stem from a July 2018 incident, and his jailtime started in February of 2019.

While Macneil is sitting in prison awaiting his fate for the murder, his victim’s family are left with an emptiness they could never fill.

Jordan’s niece, MaryJane Goodwin said since his murder, the hits have not stopped.

“His older brother lost his wife to cancer,” Goodwin said. “His mom broke her leg, resulting in doctors finding that she had lung cancer.”

Goodwin said thankfully, the doctors were able to remove the mom’s cancer.

Goodwin said her and her family miss Jordan, who was lovingly referred to as Bob, every single day. She said the hardest hit for her will be next May, when she will not see him smiling at her from the stands at graduation.

“He was supposed to be in the front row of my high school graduation in May wearing a suit,” Goodwin said. “Anyone that knows my Uncle Bob knows he don’t where [wear] suits.”

She said the past ten months have been hell for her family without him in their lives.

“We’ve lived everyday this last year sad and missing his smile and advice,” she said.

Jordan’s mom has had a rough time since his untimely death. “His mom has been through hell because he was taken from us all.” Goodwin said even his mom’s plants are suffering, because Jordan would water them behind her back to make sure they did not die.

Goodwin noted that her dad has too many regrets due to many things being left unsaid, and Bob’s daughter will never know how much he loved her because of a rash decision made by somebody else.

She said Macneil will never know the pain he has caused her family. “The man that shot my uncle took away more then he even knows. He helped raise me and was always there.”
