Mark Stowers is facing charges after a Sex Offender Compliance Check. On May 3, 2022, the Marshall County Sheriffs Office conducted multiple Sex Offender Compliance Checks across the county. One of the registered sex offenders was Stowers, a 59-year-oldmalefromMadill.
The MC deputy conducting the compliance check alleges that while they were going over the paperwork with Stowers, he became nervous about his home computer. Deputies secured the computer and sent it off to have all the files downloaded and checked.
The investigation found that Stowers’ computer contained child pornography images on it. Once MCSO received the computer back with the findings, the MCSO submitted charges against Stowers.
On March 3, 2023, the MCSO received an arrest warrant for Aggravated Possession of Child Pornography for Stowers. The suspect was found and subsequently arrested without incident.
The MCSO sent out a press release addressing the ten-month time gap between shippingthecomputeroffand filing charges.
“The investigation did take some time due to having to send the computer off and wait for the results and then to verify the information obtained,” the press release stated. “These investigations canbecomplexandoftentake some time, however, we want to make sure they are done right so the suspects in these investigations face justice for their crimes.”
Stowers is being held in the Marshall County Jail with a bond amount of $200,000. He was convicted of Purchase, Procurement, or Possession of Child Pornography in August 2011 in Muskogee, Okla. Stowers is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
