SE alumnus writes novel set in southeastern Oklahoma

Oklahoma author and Southeastern Oklahoma State University graduate Joanna Duncan has published her debut novel, Mystic Moons of McCurtain County.

Duncan earned two degrees from SE, a Bachelor in Education/Language Arts in 1982 and a Master in Education/ School Administration in 1989. She holds two additional degrees from East Central University, Master in Education/Library Media SpecialistandMasterinEducation/ School Counseling. After serving 37 years as a high school English teacher (BrokenBowandLatta),high school principal (Battiest and Haworth) and districtlevel administrator (Calvin and Madill), she is presently retired and fulfilling her lifelong dream of writing novels.

Steeped in Native American legend, the story is set in the Ouachita Mountains of rural southeastern Oklahoma’s Choctaw Nation.
