A 12-0 win over Lindsay was sandwiched between a pair of losses as the Kingston Redskins hosted their annual baseball tournament last week.
Kingston opened the week with a tough 4-0 loss to perennial Class B powerhouse Tupelo and finished off with a 10-5 defeat at the hands of 3A state contender Lone Grove.
The Redskins were slated to visit Valliant for a pivotal district test early this week before traveling to Idabel and Madill to wrap up the week’s action.
Against Tupelo, Kingston managed only three hits in the contest with two of those coming from Ewan Weaver and the other by Brock Rumer.
They definitely got things turned around in a big way against former district foe Lindsay, exploding for 10 runs in a monster second stanza that helped put the victory away early on the run rule.
Kingston plated a pair of runs in the first to get things rolling, sparked by a Rumer double. The Redskins then sent 14 batters to the plate in the second frame explosion that saw the hosts pile up six hits as well as capitalize on three Leopard errors. The biggest blows in the uprising came via a two-run double off the bat of Blane Henry as well as Hayden Seeney’s RBI double.
Rumer finished with two hits with one apiece by Brady Greene, Henry, Seeney, Lander Burkhalter and Jaksyn Martin.
That was plenty of offensive support for Seeney, who picked up the pitching triumph in only three innings, yielding just two hits while striking out a pair of batters.
Kingston’s four-run second inning outburst gave the Redskinsa4-3edgeoverLone Grove, which the hosts held until a fatal seven-run Lone Grove fifth stanza.
Burkhalter,EthanMowles and Martin each had singles in the early Redskins flurry but managed only one other hit until a Weaver single in the seventh during a two-run frame.
