Country music legend Randy Travis has deep roots in Texas and Oklahoma. A TexasHeroes&FriendsTribute to Travis lit up the Texas Trust CU Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas, on November 15. An array of musicians paid homage to the country music legend.

The tribute show featured performances of Travis’ 23 No. 1 hits by artists deeply connected to the Texas music scene. The lineup included Paul Overstreet, Casey Donahew, Pecos Hurley, Mike Ryan, Jon Wolfe, Rosie Flores, Waylon Payne, Jolie Holliday, Sonny Burgess, Clay Walker, Cody Jinks, Joe Nichols,NealMcCoy,andduo group War Hippies.

With Travis’ original touring band accompanying the artists, the evening lived up to be a fitting tribute to one of country music’s most revered icons. Along with the musical performances and video tributes, here was a special appearance from legend George Jones’ widow Nancy Jones. Travis, who has had a special bond with Texas since his childhood, now resides in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with his wife, Mary. Randy also spends a chunk of his time in the Texoma area.

This event not only celebrates his musical legacy but also supports a cause close to his heart. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Randy Travis Foundation, dedicated to stroke and aphasia awareness and promoting music education in schools.
