Pickett appointed undersecretary of content and production

ADA, Okla. - Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby appointe d Chickasaw citizen Karissa Pickett undersecretary of content and production. H er team is an integral part of the Chickasaw Nation Department ofCommunications and Community Development.

"Ms. Pickett has dedicated her career to serving Chicka saws by en suring timely delivery of information that educates, connects and updates our citizens," Governor Anoatubby said. "She brings enthusiasm, a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to meeting our mission to this new position. She is an asset to the Chickasaw Nation."

Mrs. Pickett formerly serv ed as executive officer of creative services and a s director of multimedia for the Chickasaw Nation. She began working for the Chickasaw Nation in 2002 as a part-time file clerk in nutrition services while attending East Central University (ECU). She earned a bachelor's degree in mass communication from ECU in 2005.

"The Chickasaw Nation made it possible for me to have a college education a nd also provided me with employment while I was in college. It is a privilege to serve and give back to the organization that has provided so many opportunities to my family and me," Mrs. Pickett said.

In her new role, she will oversee the creative services, and digital design and development divisions, which include multimedia, video production, graphic design, web development, broadcast productions and creative solutions.

"I am honored to be a part of Governor Anoatubby's leadership team and to be able to help share important information with Chickasaw citizens through our various media outlets. Our team has the unique opportunity to h elp share the stories of our people and help create educational opportunities that engage our audience and instill a sense of pride in being Chickasaw," she said.

Mrs. Pickett graduated high school from Booker, Texas, acommunityof1,500 residents located in the Great Plains in the North Texas Panh andle, mere miles from the Oklahoma state line.

Her husband, Paul, is also employed by the Chickasaw Nation. They h ave two children, Addleigh , 6, and Rylei gh , 3 . Mrs . Pickett's parents are Sonnie and Tammy Pickens of Ada.

In addition to rearing a family and working for the Chickasaw Nation , Mrs. Pickett enjoys working the family cattle ranch with h er husband and children.
