Emergency Drill

For anybody passing through Kingston on 377 on August 23 and 24 do not be alarmed. The Marshall County Emergency Management Department, along with various other departments, will be hosting a multi-department and multijurisdictional training exercise.

Emergency Management Director Robert Chaney said the first undertaking will begin at 10:00 p.m. August 23. Saturday’s tasks are slotted to begin at 8:00 a.m. and go through 3:00 p.m.

Chaney compares this exercise to a sports team. Any sports team needs to practice to be a team. This exercise will help the emergency departments operate like a well-oiled machine.

Chaney said all Marshall County Fire Departments will be in attendance — Buncombe Creek, Caney/Soldier Creek, Enos/Cardinal, Hauani Creek, Kingston, Lebanon, Madill, Texoma, Tri-City, and Wills/ Powell.

The Marshall County Sheriffs Office, Alliance Hospital, State Health Agency, Red Cross, Marshall and Johnston County Ambulance, and of course, the MCEMD will be there.

Chaney said the cool part of the exercise will be the Pontotoc County Equine Search and Rescue, and the Chickasaw Nation Canine Search and Rescue teams will be on board.

So, to sum it up, if anybody is driving on 377 in Kingston, and sees ambulances, fire trucks, or even a Medflight helicopter, do not be alarmed. It is just all the emergency personnel learning how to be more efficient during an actual emergency.
