Darren Alexander, Chairman of the Marshall County EMS Board stepped down from his position on May 18. Alexander has been a state trooper for over 25 years, and cited his regular job demanding more of his time for bowing out.

“I am teaching at the OHP Academy, and we are on firearms now, and because of COVID-19 changing the academy schedule, I will be out of pocket quite a bit in May and June,” Alexander said.

He said he did not feel right making the board suffer because of his absences for work.

“I did not want my absence to cause a hinderance to the board, so I felt it best that I resign,” Alexander said.

Alexander did not just step down as Chairman of the Board, he left resigned from the board entirely. He said his term is just shy of the five-year terms that board members typically serve.

Even though things for Alexander will eventually calm down, he said he has no current plans on returning as chairman, or even to the board.

“At this time, I have not given any thought to being reinstated.
