Madill Rose Garden Club to host convention

Madill Rose Garden Club will host the South Central District Garden Spring Convention on March 9 at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 10:00 a.m. Members met on February 7 at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall to finalize plans for the day.

President Linda Kaye Green called the meeting to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Mary Jane Lowery gave a devotional entitled “Gardening God’s Wave.” Roll call was called by Secretary Becky Ninemire.

Two thank you notes were read by Ninemire, they were from the Mary Lois Jones family and Madill City-CountyLibrary.RoseGarden purchased the book “Prescription Drugs” in memory of Dewayne Wellman.

Ninemire informed the members that invitations had been mailed on Friday, February 2, with a reservation deadline of February 27.

Susan Patton gave a report of Goody Bags to be presented to our guests on March 9. Members were asked to meet on March 8 at 10:00 a.m. to fill goody bags and decorate tables. Patton ordered eleven centerpieces for the tables which will be different plants. The centerpieces will be given as door prizes at the end of the day.

Three members of Rose Garden will be presenting short informative programs. Jayson Pruitt will speak on “Propagating Plants,” Jo Wood will talk about “Worm Beds” and Judy Parkey and Nancy Kerr will present “Raised Garden Beds”.

SandraSweeneywillcater a luncheon of stew, hoagies, desserts, and drinks. Lowery will give a “Welcome to Madill” presentation. Each member attending will need to bring two white elephant sale items for the silent auction.
