The Madill Lady Wildcats Varsity basketball team hosted the Kingston Lady Redskins Varsity team Tuesday, December 6. Even though it was a hard-fought battle, the Lady Wildcats lost.
The first quarter started with Madill taking a 7-0 lead out of the gate. With three minutes left in the first quarter, Kingston made their first two-point basket of the game. The last few minutes of the first quarter were very exciting as Madill scored another two-point shot and Kingston hit a three-pointer. With mere seconds left in the first, the Wildcats hit another three-pointer leaving the score 15-10 Wildcats at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started off with Kingston scoring a twopoint shot in the first 30 seconds. hey quickly followed that up with another two-point shot making the score 15-14.
Kingston then took the lead with another two-point shot. The Lady Wildcats answered back with a two-point shot tying the game at 18-18. With two minutes left in the second quarter, Kingston dominated the court scoring a total of eight points ending the second quarter 20-31, Kingston in the lead. Thethirdquarterstartedoffwith the Lady Wildcats coming out strong, but the Lady Redskins responded with good defensive moves. Kingston gained control of the ball to make a threepointer. Madill quickly fired off two consecutive two-point shots closing the gap with a 27-36 score.
Kingston stayed strong making several baskets bringing the lead up to 27-44. With the score at 29-44, Kingston in the lead, they continued to dominate the last part of the quarter. Kingston scored multiple threepoint shots keeping the lead at 29-50. With seconds left in the quarter, Madill gained two more points leaving the score 31-50 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter started with Kingston padding their lead by an additional five points, making the score 31-55. After that, the Lady Wildcats hit a two-point shot, but Kingston responded by scoring the next 11 points increasing their lead to 33-66.
Madill went on a small run cutting into Kingston’s lead to 42-69 with 1:30 left in the game. With little time left on the clock, the Lady Wildcats were able to add another seven points, but came up short at the end by a score of 49-69.
