Zack Brown –not the singer, even though they both have epic beards –lives in Ardmore. He was named Wahls Man of the Year on December 11. How did a guy from small town USA even enter a contest like that, and also win it? By being at the right place at the right time.Brown said it all began on a business trip.

“I was at a trade show in Indianapolis Indiana,” Brown said. “I was there on business with our coffee company Scars and Stripes Coffee.”

He waltzed into the Wahls Mobile Beard Trimming trailer for, you guessed it, a trim because he was about to do an on-air interview with Fox and Friends. Apparently, a representative of the company was wowed by Brown’s whiskers and asked if she could enter him into a contest. Not to be one to turn down a possible opportunity to win, Brown agreed.

Brown said he received an email naming him Wahls Man of Anytown. To win that moniker, the fellows with facial hair went through a two-phase elimination round. Brown met all criteria for that category, and was put in the running for Wahls Man of the Year. Brown’s prize for winning the category was $500 and a pair of gold-plated trimmers.

To win Man of the Year, the contestant must not only win by public vote (40% of the score), he must also wow the judges. Brown said his Facebook friends jumped in and helped him get the winning public vote.

“I shared the voting on my social media and my followers did not let me down.”

Winning Man of the Year came with $,1000and bragging rights for 2020. Brown said he will use his win for good.

“I will continue to use this platform to spread awareness about veteran suicide and other solutions for our veterans. I am honored to carry this beard that has been recognized nationally now!”
