Three Kingston Middle School students earned top recognition in a prestigious statewide competition, standing out among hundreds of young writers for their creativity and skill.
Azlynn Calhoun, Myah Carlile and Lennon Stone were recently named winners in the Oklahoma Writing Project’s Write to Win Contest. Their work was selected from a competitive pool of 540 student entries, highlighting their exceptional ability to craft compelling and original writing.
As part of this achievement, the students were invited to attend the Oklahoma Writing Project (OWP) Spring Conference on March 31 at Oklahoma City University. During the event, they were formally recognized for their accomplishments and given the opportunity to share their winning pieces with fellow writers, educators and attendees.
In addition to this honor, their work was published in an official anthology alongside other winning entries from across the state. This publication serves as a lasting celebration of their success and a platform to showcase their voices to a wider audience. The Write to Win Contest
is known for encouraging young writers to express themselves and develop their storytelling abilities. Being selected as a winner is a significant accomplishment and reflects both dedication and talent.
Their seventh-grade reading teacher, Stephanie Dohrer praised the students’ achievement.
“Azlynn, Myah, and Lennon each have their own way of telling a story, and it’s been really special to watch them grow as writers this year,” Dohrer said. “Seeing their hard work recognized at this level is incredibly rewarding— not just for them, but for our entire Redskin family.”
