Since June, INCA Community Services’ public transit program, JAMM Transit, has been celebrating their twentieth anniversary with a birthday campaign, “JAMM’n 20 Years,” with a different promotion each month that are designed to give back to the riders and community. But October marks the actual birthday month of JAMM Transit being open to the public and to celebrate 20 years of service, INCA is inviting riders, general public, local leaders, and community members to join in on a “JAMM Jubilee” celebration.

The JAMM Jubilee in Marshall County will take place October 16 in Oakland at the INCA office located at 18941 Eighth Street in Oakland from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The celebration will include food, fun games, prizes, bus and office tours, and more and is open to everyone in the community. The occasion will also be marked by a proclamation from the city council and local legislators are expected to be in attendance.

In addition fo the JAMM Jubilee, JAMM Transit is offering free town routes during the whole month of October and encourages the public to “Come JAMM with us!”

“We wanted to come up with and idea that would also reward our riders, as well as saying ‘Hip, Hip hooray!’ for 20 years,” LaQuita Thornley, INCA Community Services Director said. “Let’s give something back to them.”

JAMM started with seven public transportation vehicles in 1999 and now has 49 vehicles, most of which are ADA accessible so all riders receive quality transportation services in the area. Since opening to the public in 1999, JAMM provides rides for many various needs that promote self sufficiency and independence including in-town transportation, non emergency medical rides, school routes, work routes, veteran rides, senior rides, and so much more. This campaign is to celebrate JAMM’s twentieth year of providing Johnston, Atoka, Marshall and Murray counties with public transportation.
