1. When connecting an extension cord to lights, make sure the extension cord is rated to handle the light amperage. (don’t connect too many lights to one cord) 2. Make sure if using an extension cord outside, it is made for outside use. (some are for inside use only) 3. Never connect a space heater to an extension cord, connect it directly to the electrical socket.
4. Never cover a space heater or set it next to anything flammable.
5. When placing lights outside, make sure they are for outside use. There should be a tag showing the UL rating.
6. Don’t use staples, nails or anything that can pinch the wires while hanging them. This could break the wires causing and electrical short or electrocution.
7. Don’t place candles or any open flames close to the tree, real or artificial.
8. Turn the lights off at night to allow a cool down time.
9. Always make sure your smoke detector is working. Whether its replacing the batteries or if it’s a 10 year detector, replace the whole smoke detector.
