Many people have loved ones who have medical issues. Most people would do almost anything to help their ailing family member, especially their child, get better.

MarshallCountyresident, Robert Chaney, was facing just that. His daughter has seizures and began researching the benefits of THC. Chaney said the medical marijuana stopped her seizures, so he began looking into a way to offer it to any Marshall County resident who might need it.

That was how Green Acre Farm 100 was created. Chaney researched the benefits of medical marijuana and what was needed to open a dispensary.

Tommy Griffin, the manager of Green Acre Farm 100, also researched the benefits of cannabis because of medical issues. Though, he was hit with a double medical whammy when he and his wife both had medical issues.

Griffin said that he first begantoresearchthebenefits in 2008 when his medicines began causing him to have seizures. His neurologist told him to seek alternative medications to curb the side effects. Then, in 2011, his wife was diagnosed with cancer and he “started digging deep into the benefits of cannabis and cancer treatment.”

He found that cannabis can help relieve the effects of chemo and immunotherapy in cancer patients. It can also help increase the appetite, help with focus issues and increase energy. In some studies, cannabisreducedthe size of tumors, as well.

Located at 9938 S. Hwy 377 in Kingston, the dispensary offers various types of products. Chaney said there are plans in the works to add on to the business to make it more than just a dispensary.
