A Kingston family is dealing with a nightmare that nobody wants to face. On March 2, Donna Cook and her wife, Christina Griffith, live at 8965 Rose Lane in Kingston. Cook went to the store a few miles from her house while her wife napped. Cook said she was only gone for approximately 10 minutes and when she arrived back home, her entire world turned upside down.

“I pulled up to my house to find it in flames,” Cook said.

Cook then jumped into action because she knew her wife was taking a nap when she left. She ran inside, grabbed her wife and their dog and left the residence.

Once outside, Cook said she contacted her neighbors and called 911.

Cook said they are waiting to find out the cause of the fire. They are for sure that it wasn’t an electrical issue, just not sure what could have started it. They are waiting on an investigation.

Cook said that even though the fire itself was traumatizing, she’s thankful that she was only a few minutesawayfromherhouse since her wife was napping.

She said that they’re waiting on the insurance company to assess the damage. The damage seems cosmetic, though.

Even though they lost irreplaceable items like photos and the like, Cook said they are just material possessions. She’s just thankful her wife is safe.
