– Denise Garry, who joined First United in 2019 as the Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, has been promoted to Chief Compliance Officer, Senior Vice President. She will be responsible for managing First United’s enterprisewide regulatory compliance program.
“As our Deputy Chief Compliance Officer, Denise was instrumental in building out the strategy and direction of First United's compliance management system,” Greg Massey,ChiefExecutiveOfficer stated. “Denise’s industry knowledge and collaborative approach to problem-solving are among many attributes that make her a natural leader for this role.”
Garry believes in continual growth and is an engaged member of several industry organizations. She is a member of the American Bankers Association (ABA) Compliance School Board and the Oklahoma Bankers Association (OBA) Compliance School Board, serving as faculty for both schools. She also serves on the OBA’s Women in Banking Committee.
Of working for First United Bank and her promotion, Garry states that “I embrace the relationships I’ve built in the industry over the years, as well as being a life-long learner in the field of compliance, which is constantly evolving and changing.” Garry holds a B.S. in business, management, and leadership and is working on her master’s in legal studies, risk management, and compliance from Texas A&M UniversitySchoolofLaw.She and her husband, Martin, have three boys and reside in Denison, Texas.
