The Kingston Dollar General located near Geckos is temporarily closed until further notice due to damage to the front of the store. Kingston Police Chief Kasey Cox said that at approximately noon on December 11, a vehicle crashed into the front of the store. Cox noted that an elderly gentleman was operating the vehicle and his foot became stuck under the brake pedal, rendering the brake pedal useless when he attemptedtostop.Thevehicle then was launched into the front of the store.

”We had a individual coming in to shop, he got his foot stuckbetweenthebrakesand theacceleratorandasyoucan see went through the front end of the Dollar General store,” Cox said. “Just got his foot stuck, he had on some slip on shoes, and sometimes it happens, unfortunately he had a mishap today when he went to the store but he’s doing okay.'.

The gentleman was unharmed, and no customers were harmed in the incident. Cox said the only damage was to the car, the front of the store and some of the merchandise.
