Couple arrested after Marshall County man found deceased

David Latham, and his fiancé Julie Kawazoe are facing charges after, David Lee Easley, Sr., a 71-year-old male from Madill, was found deceased in his home. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations on July 21.

David Easley’s wife Mary told KXII that she knew something was wrong on Thursday afternoon. She attempted to call her husband multiple times but had no luck reaching him. She drove to their ranch where she found the lights on, and David Easley’s guns out on the table. Mary said in the interview that her husband was meticulous about keeping his firearms locked up, that was another red flag for Mary.

After having no luck locating her husband, Mary dialed 911. Officers came out and located David Easley’s body in the cellar. Officers also realized that David Easley’s truck, debit card and dog were missing.

The investigation led officers to Roanoke, Texas. They located the victim’s vehicle at a gas station. Latham was in the driver’s seat of David Easley’s vehicle.

Kawazoe was in her vehicle parked next to Latham. Officers found the victim’s debit card on Latham, and David Easley’s dog in the vehicle.

Latham and Kawazoe were taken into custody at the scene and transferred to the Denton County Jail where they are awaiting extradition.

Latham, a 40-year-old male from Denton, Texas, and Kawazoe, a 48-year-old female from Denton, Texas was taken into custody. They are awaiting extradition back to Marshall County. Latham is facing First-Degree Murder charges and Kawazoe is facing charges for Illegal Use of a Credit Card.

An online search found priors for Burglary, Arson, and Possession of CDS. No priors for Kawazoe were found.

The victim’s family said Latham is David Easley’s nephew and they don’t believe the motive was for the money. They believe the guns would have been taken if it was money related.
