Buncombe Creek: Recipe deadline

Greetings from Buncombe Creek. The weather has finally led the way to sunshine and warmer temps. Let’s hope this virus runs its course or is put at bay with a vaccine real soon.

The Texoma Southern Baptist Church is still closed pending the outcome of events in the weeks to follow. That includes Wednesday night activities as well as the “Open Arms Clothes Closet.”

Lake Texoma is currently 8.59’ above normal with all the rain we have had lately. The guides say they are still catching fish so get your social distancing in a boat, fishing and enjoying time with family.

The Buncombe Creek Volunteer Fire Dept. has cancelled their annual meeting that was to be held on April 11 and the new date will be discussed at their next Board of Directors meeting.

Also, be sure to submit your recipes for their Cookbook Fundraiser. The deadline to submit your recipes is 8/1/2020. You may mail them to: 13889 Holiday Park Dr., Kingston, OK 73439 or email to: BuncombeFire1@gmail.com.

I heard that our 5th annual “Burning of the Socks” event to promote the area tourism and recreation, was a true success, even though the weather didn’t cooperate as well as we would have hoped.

The event raised approximately $3,000.00 to be shared with the Lake Texoma Assoc., our local BC Volunteer Fire Dept. and for helping to purchase our yearly fireworks display that is put on each year by volunteers.

Don’t forget Wednesday, April 1st is April Fools Day. Be sure to fool someone.

“Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory”. Have a safe week.
