Cody Canada and The Departed performed at the 2022 National Sand Bass Festival on Thursday, June 9, 2022. Logan Russell and The Young Guns performed as well as the third place winners of the King Sandie Talent Contest. Russellplayed from 6:30 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. The third place winners, Vincent Brown (Teens) and Conner Wilson (Adults), performed at 8:00 p.m. and Canada took the stage at 8:30 p.m.
Canada and his band played some of their own songs, as well as some hits from when Canada was a member of Cross Canadian Ragweed. The band performed their newest single, “If You Want It That Much,” along with Cross Canadian Ragweed hit songs “Boys from Oklahoma” and “Alabama.” They also sang other songs from both bands and completed their show at 10:15 p.m. Canada said he and his band enjoyed the experience of performing NSBF.
“We’re from Oklahoma, so we like playing in Oklahoma,” Canada said.
He said he and his band had a lot of fun and would love to come back to perform in the future.
“My favorite part was everyone liking the old tunes, it was really nice to see everyone sing and smile and that was cool,” Canada said.
