A seven-year-old Madill boy is recovering after a harrowing incident with a copperhead snake. Colbye Devin, mom of Noah, said that May 20 started out like any normal day. However, it quickly escalated into a mad dash to the hospital.

She said she and her husband were working in the yard when they decided to take a break. Noah was not done working, so he stayed outside because he wanted to make a dog cage. Devin said that project was short-lived, because not soon after she and her husband went inside, chaos ensued.

“As soon as my husband and I went inside my seven-year-old came running inside saying he got bit by a snake,” Devin said.

Her husband rushed outside to check and found the copperhead next to their trailer, trying to slither away. Realizing immediately that it was a copperhead, the husband, Kevin killed the snake and then called 911.

Paramedics and first responders rushed to the house, they even had LifeFlight on standby. He was rushed to Oklahoma City Children’s Hospital and started him on Crofab to counteract the venom.

Devin said even though Noah freaked out a bit while waiting on paramedics, he was so strong.

It was a terrifying experience for Devin, Noah and any other family members. So, Devin has kept the family updated through Facebook.

Noah was released from the hospital on May 22, and Devin said he is doing well.
