A big time was had in a small town

Ole Red in Tishomingo is where the music buzz was, once again. With any concert performances that take place at The Doghouse, it starts off with a delicious BBQ dinner and local live music.

The July 6 show was the BigLittleTownTributeShow with Tanner Young as the opening performer. Young is a local from Colbert, Okla. and has been playing at Ole Red for three years. Young has been playing guitar and performing for sixteen years.

Currently, he is lead guitar with Bailey Rae’s band. Rae was a contestant on The Voice’s season 19. Together, they are traveling and performing in South Texas, Kansas, Louisiana and Florida.

Young’s performances are always a crowd pleaser due to the range of all genres he can play. Many would say he is very entertaining to all audiences and just a pleasure to watch.

The audience wrapped up their BBQ meal as the Big Little Town began to take their place on stage to start the show. All were awaiting the entrance of the blonde headed bombshell Dalene Richelle playing the role of Kimberly from the band Little Big Town.

It is always fun to watch a tribute band really pay tribute to the band they are paying homage to, from the songs to dressing the same as the original group. Richelle did that well with the fluffy blonde locs and hot pink dress.

Richelle said the band took some time to get to the current configuration of the band. Founding members Lisa Underwood (original Kimberly) and Richelle as (Karen) recruited lead guitar player Jay Spence in 2018 and step-by-step the current band was formed. The most recent member was Karen Ledford as “Karen” in early 2023.

Adam’s rocking vocals won them over when he nailed “Stay All Night”, so he stepped into the “Jimi” role. Recently, Scott E. and Adam switched roles since they more resemble the roles.

Scott E. searched through all the music and added some songs from the archives to make up the current set list. The band for Big Little Town also includes Pete Miller Producer on bass, Caleb Barnett on drums, Adam Lashbrook on vocals/guitar and Scott E. lead guitar/vocals.

The group gave accolades to Taylor Swift who wrote the song “Better Man”. It wasn’t written originally for Little Big Town, but Swift felt the song was better fitted for the quartet. Richelle is a multi-instrumentalist singer and recording artist. Richelle can be found performing live music in a dozen different venues every month.

She is known for playing a namesake role as Shania Twang for the Shania Twain Tribute band and as Christine McVie in Fleetwood X a tribute to Fleetwood Mac. Richelle has a natural talent along with her many band members for harmonizing.
