On February 10, the Doghouse at Ole Red held a concert showcasing a contestant from the The Voice. Grant Bias, whose stage name is Bias, performed for the crowd.

Bias, a 24-year-old country crooner is an Arkansas native who made the top nine on The Voice last year. Even thoughhedidnotwin,hesaid it was an amazing experience and he loved being on Team Gwen and meeting Blake Shelton while filming the singing competition show.

This up-and-coming country performer, backed by his powerhouse band, covered legendary hits by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and George Jones. He also covered new hits like “Need a Favor” by Jelly Roll and “Fire Away” by Chris Stapleton, which he performed with Tanner Massey, also a contestant on season 24 of The Voice.

The crowd was treated to two original songs by Bias. His original songs were “I NeedYou”and“LakeofFire”, a new one that he performed publicly for the first time. It wasadynamicshowthatwas entertaining with music and banter between Bias and the audience, he even wished one woman a happy birthday on her special day.

Bias’s family was in attendance as well making it an even more special event. His wife, Karlie, was there in her continued support as was his mom and dad who came in from Georgia, his aunt and uncle, and his brother was there with his family.

Bias said he had a great time performing in the small town in Oklahoma.

“Tishomingo is the spot,” Bias said. “It’s been a great day so far and I’m excited for tonight. Love Tishomingo, love Oklahoma. It’s an honor, I’veneverbeentoTishomingo before. We are in Blake's house, and it is sold out.”

He contributed the skills of his former life as a worship pastor helping in his new role as country music performer.

“I want to be the most authentic side of myself that I can be.”

TheopeningactwasOklahoma native Tanner Young. YounghailsfromColbertand was named “Rising Legend” in 2014 by the National Traditional Country Music Association. Young covered classic favorites by George Jones to George Strait with an old school country vocal style.
