American Legion members place memorial bricks

On March 31, four members of the American Legion placed 15 memorial veteran bricks in the Memorial Walk located on the south side of the courthouse. The bricks are to honor the military personnel who have served America.

Many people believe that the American Legion is the same as the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). However, that is a misconception. The VFW is for military personnel who have served in wars overseas. Many Reserves or National Guard members never leave American soil, keeping them from being able to join the VFW.

The American Legion accepts any and all military personnel. Reservists and National Guard can join, as well. The American Legion Post #99 is in the process of buildingthemembership. For anybody wanting details on how to get a memorial brick for a loved one, or to join the American Legion Post, contact Richard Bonnet at 580-564-5877.
