TFD: Words of warning; stay safe in bad weather

As I write this newsletter, it’s a gorgeous last day of January. Two more days of Arizona weather, then the ice is supposed to come. And we are currently not accustomed to ice on the roads.

Remember to take it slow and easy and give yourself room. Keep your tank full (it not only allows you to be able to run your heater if you have problems, but it gives you more traction).

So, my words of warning are to stay home and make homemade chili, bread pudding and hot chocolate.

The Texoma Fire District Board of Directors meets the first Thursday of the month at the Training/Community Center at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

The Texoma Fire District Auxiliary meets the third Monday of the month at 10978 Parkview, just south of Rooster Creek Bridge at 1:30 p.m. with a social gathering at 1:00 p.m. The Auxiliary did not meet in January due to the recent surge of Covid in the area.

The exercise/stretching classes are on Monday and Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and the cards/games are on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. Auxiliary members are welcome to join in on the fun. Bring finger foods to share and have a fun time.

For anybody interested in renting the Texoma Community Building, contact Gayla Freeman at 580-565-4043 and leave a message. She will get right back with you. The cost is $75 per day, and you must be a member of the Texoma Fire District.

If you are interested in joining the Texoma Volunteer Fire Department, contact Chief Todd Cissell at 580-565-4491. Applications can be picked up from the mailbox at the Texoma

Fire Station located at 10089 Texoma Park Road, Kingston, Okla. Training will be provided.
