Hello everyone. Just got back from my Carnival Cruise to Key West, Bahamas and Nassau. What a journey, but it is always nice to get back home. If you have never taken a cruise, this was my first, you need to do so. It is so relaxing and just wonderful.

Well, the fire department has been really busy. A couple house fires, five car wrecks, and a couple grass fires. Wow, that is just too many. Folks, you need to slow down and watch those curves. Plus, do not drink and drive. You may think you can do it, but the reality is YOU CAN’T! So don’t endanger your life and others.

The Fourth of July fire works were again great as in the past. I hope everyone enjoyed them. Always look forward to the big event. The lake was sure full of campers and boaters. The lake has finally gone down so people could enjoy it. But remember, there are still logs and debris floating; so just be alert, but have fun!

The department did do some SCBA training in the past week so all will be up on the air devices when they need them. Plus, training classes are still going on in the county for our firemen.

The next meeting for the fire department is July 15, 6:30 p.m. at the fire station. Again, I push, we do need volunteers. Come to a meeting and check it all out.

The Ladies Auxiliary is getting ready for our next big get together, the Ice Cream Social. This is for the public to attend and enjoy homemade ice cream, sandwiches and snacks, and get to know and meet the firemen and auxiliary ladies that help the fire department. The social is scheduled for July 18, at 6:00 p.m. at the Texoma Community/Training Center. So, come on our and enjoy!

The Ladies Auxiliary meeting is also scheduled on July 15, 1:00 p.m. at the Texoma Community/Training Center. The election of officers is coming up soon, so think of joining and being active. We do have a lot of fun. Hope to see you there.

Don’t forget the Lighthouse Methodist Church still hosts their free Wednesday night dinners at the church. So come one, come all at 5:00 p.m. on Alberta Creek Road. Love to see you there.

Until next week, be safe and watch those control burns as they can get out of control fast with the dry grass and all, be prepared with water and phone and do not leave it. Watch your catalytic converters if you drive into high grass, a fire starter for sure. Please keep our firefighters in your prayers, they do put their lives on the line to save yours.
