Rio Bonham, a 2019 graduate of Madill High School, was among 100 outstanding seniors from Oklahoma public schools who were honored by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence as Academic All-Staters.
He received an Academic All-State scholarship sponsored by the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation. The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence is a statewide nonprofit that recognizes and encourages academic excellence in Oklahoma’s public schools.
Bonham, a member of the Oklahoma State University President’s Leadership Council, is passionate about all things “ag.” Specifically, he lists bridging the gap between production agriculture and environmental sustainability as his main career goal.
He has served as president and vice president of the Future Farmers of America Madill chapter as well as state ambassador, and he is a National Ag Day Essay Contest winner. As a student, he implemented a fishing line recycling program, organized a fundraiser to send care packages to deployed troops and served as competitor and referee for the National Skeet Shooting Association.
Bonham plans to study biosystems and agricultural engineering at OSU.
