Did your family go on vacation and you are left wondering what to do with the little travel bottles? Look no further, Hope for Marshall County has implemented a program and is needing assistance in acquiring these items.

Hope for Marshall County is looking for items to fill blessing baskets for students in the community.

Gwen Wilson of HFMC said the baskets derived from a need they observed at the food pantry. “The baskets were started after we saw how many parents were needing hygiene items from the pantry.”

Wilson said the baskets are important for more than just the items in them. “Self-esteem is something very important to middle and high school [students], and being able to have items like deodorant, and laundry soap mean all the difference in the world to many kids whose families just need a hand up.”

Wilson said the items they are in search of are things that kids may not have at home or run out by the month’s end and they are thankful the baskets in the past. The baskets are located at Madill Middle and High School; Kingston has cubbies for their items. Items needed for the baskets are shampoo, conditioner, feminine products, lotions, lip gloss/chapstick, makeup, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, body sprays, powder, hand sanitizer, snacks, pencils, pens, folders, small liquid laundry soap, brushes, combs, bath soap, Crystal Light or single Kool-Aid packets and skin care items.
