Hello Enos and Happy Thanksgiving! It’s the week of giving thanks, being with family and kitchens full of wonderful aromas. Did you know that Thanksgiving was declared a national holiday by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863 during the American Civil War? A few more fun facts about Thanksgiving: Turkey was not a part of the original feast. The original feast consisted of waterfowl, venison, ham, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin and squash. The first U.S. President to “pardon” a turkey was John F. Kennedy in 1963. Now you know!

The Enos Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 7. Lineup will begin at noon at the Firehouse. Get those rides decorated and come out and join the fun. Following the parade there will be cookies and hot cocoa for the kids (and big kids) at the Enos Community Center. Rumor has it that Santa will be in attendance.

Just a few more weeks remaining to purchase your raffle tickets for thethree3 drawings that will take place following the parade, you do not need to be present to win. There are various gift certificates available and a 50/50 cash drawing. These tickets are $1 each and available for purchase from The Enos Gateway Mall, Vonnie’s Bar, Texoma Corral and Dean’s Dispensary. There will also be a drawing for a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun. These tickets are $5/each or 5 for $20. These are available for purchase from Copperhead Motors and Vonnie’s Bar.

Spread some Christmas cheer and drop off a new, unwrapped toy for our Christmas for Kids. Help put a smile on a child’s face. Drop off sites are available at Enos Gateway Mall, Enos Dollar General and Texoma Corral.

If you or someone you know needs assistance with Christmas, applications are now available. Please call Kathy Caldwell at 580-564-5208 for more information.

Please don’t forget about Warm Up Marshall County! Your donations of new or slightly used, clean items are greatly needed and appreciated. You can drop off coats, hoodies, gloves and scarves at Pharmacy Plus in Madill. Contact Cindy McKibban at 580-564-5267 for more information. All donations remain in Marshall County.

Texoma Trade Days is quickly approaching! The first event will be Saturday, December 7 and will continue each first Saturday of each month. If you would like more information or are interested in being a vendor, please contact Kacey, 580-504-4394 or Karla, 405-808-9315.

Happy Birthday wishes to Staci Stewart and Mark Sylvester.

May your stuffing be tasty and your turkey be plump. May your potatoes and gravy have nary a lump. May your yams be delicious and your pies take the prize. And may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your thighs!

From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!
