A family-run laundry chain grew in 2016 to include Dino’s Cleaners in Madill.

The chain began in Ardmore as Comet Cleaners, now known as Glo’s Dry Cleaners & Laundry Cleaners, in 1998 by Gary and Graciela Tyler. Over the years, the family opened three more locations in Duncan, Lone Grove and, recently, in Madill.

The Madill location, known as Dino’s Cleaners, is owned by the Tyler’s daughter Valerie Garcia and her husband Abel. Garcia’s children help out at the Madill location frequently.

Before moving to the 111 Plaza location, Dino’s began in 2016 next to Braum’s in Madill. The business is named after Garcia’s father, Gary Dean, who they call Dino (pronounced like dean-o). Many people mispronounce the store by pronouncing it like a dinosaur because of the bright green dinosaur on the logo.

Although Valerie only moved to Madill in 2012, she is already proud to call it home.

“I love it here,” said Valerie. “I like the school for the kids, the kids love it here. It’s different. I never liked Ardmore, there is too much to do. Same as Duncan. I love it here in Madill.”

Dino’s does everything from everyday tasks such as washing and starching jeans to more complicated cases such as cleaning mudstained wedding dresses.

The family-chain cleans all of their clothes in their own locations. The chain also picks up other cleaners’ clothes and does their cleaning for them. The Madill address takes their attire to their Duncan location to clean, but Valerie hopes for that to change in the future.

“Eventually we’d like to make this a full plant,” said Valerie. “We just got this building [in] December of last year. We’re [taking] baby steps. We’re going.”

For now, though, the cleaner on the square with bright green carpet leading in is happy with the progress they’ve made already.

“We love it here, we love our customers. We appreciate all the business that they give us,” said Valerie.
