Well, we are in the heat of the summer, so be sure to stay inside where it is cool and avoid dehydration by drinking plenty of water. The water in Lake Texoma is a warm 65 degrees.

As the warmer temps stimulate the shad, they tend to swim closer to the surface where the Striper are not far behind.

Unfortunately, this time of year is not as bountiful for hooking some Striper as in the cooler fall months to come.

The Golf Cart Regatta was a huge success with a long line of patriotic decorated carts showing off their individual talents.

Cotton and Lori Armstrong were nominated as the Grand Marshalls this year as they took the lead for the procession!

Everyone enjoyed seeing the decorated carts as they rolled along, waving their flags, and tossing goodies for the kiddies.

The July 4 activities here in Buncombe Creek came to a wonderful close with everyone sporting a smile and a feeling of reverence, as all reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women who.fought for our freedom to be here today.

The Perry and Thomas Parks in Buncombe Creek have mandated new rules for young children driving golf carts in the parks.

All must have a temporary permit signed by the parents stating that the child has been through the short training, provided by designated adults to ensure proper driving etiquette.

Be courteous and observant as this is a privilege that can easily be revoked.

The Buncombe Creek Marina and Anchor Inn restaurant had record numbers during the July 4 weekend, showing us that everyone was ready to venture out again.

I pray we all have avoided sickness and those who came from out of the area have returned to their homes safe, well and remain so.

The Texoma Southern Baptist Church will have their doors open again for the “Open Arms Clothes Closet” on Saturday, July 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

On Tuesday night, July 21, the volunteer fire department will be having their monthly meeting starting at 7:00 p.m. Stay safe and I’ll address you next week with my rambles!
