It’s July already and summer is finally here. Humid, hot temps and the sandy beaches are starting to be seen again.

As a reminder, the Buncombe Creek Community Center will be hosting their annual Fourth of July breakfast on July 6 starting at 8:00 a.m.  Also, the local Ladies Auxiliary will be selling their homemade goodies there as well. The profit these ladies make will go toward helping the local community.

The Texoma Southern Baptist Church here in Buncombe Creek will be hosting a “Red, White & Blue” cookout on Sunday, July 7 right after Sunday service. They will be serving Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. Be sure to stop by and say hello.

Don’t forget to attend the various functions in our little part of the world here in Buncombe Creek this Fourth of July weekend. On Saturday, July 6, bring the kids and their fishing poles to participate in the Fourteenth Annual Mickey Brown Memorial Fishing Derby held in Twin Ponds.

There will be toys and prizes awarded and free hot dogs and drinks.  Right after the Fishing Derby, the Eleventh Annual Twin Peaks Water Works Turtle Races will start.

Please bring your own box turtles and see which one will win.

The fireworks display will follow at dusk and it has always been a lengthy and fascinating display. Have a safe Holiday weekend.
