Wildcats overtake Redskins in MC rematch

Kingston was defeated by rival Madill 53-48 on Friday, January 12. They hosted the red-hot Wildcat squad, coming off a win over Byng, extending their home winning streak to 19 games. This was the rematch of an earlier season showdown between the Redskins and Wildcats that ended in a 53-51 triple overtime win for Madill.

The Redskins lost the rebound battle 22-18, but equaled Madill in assists on the night with eleven. The turnovers hurt Kingston, as Madill forced five turnovers via the steal. Kingston shot 45% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc but couldn’t find an answer for Madill’s attack.

Kingston trailed most of the game and were down by 10 in the 4th quarter at one point, before the Redskins cut into the lead.

Brylan James was named Player of the Game for the Wildcats with a 16-point, six rebound, seven assist game. The senior guard, along with Ethan Wilkinson, led the way in turning back Kingston. Wilkerson scored a game-high 29 in the win and added eight rebounds. Madill outrebounded the Redskins 22 to 18 on the night..

Kingston’scomebackcame up short and the loss dropped the Redskins to 2-6 on the season; 0-2 in district play. Meanwhile, the Wildcats continue a strong campaign, rising to 11-1 on the season and 5-0 in Lake Country play. Up next for Madill is a matchup with Hugo (5-8) at home.
