James Rhett Coble is a senior atKingstonHighSchool. He has been a Redskin since the6thgradewhenhestarted at Kingston Middle School.

He participates in shooting sports, football and baseball. He has been an athlete since he was three years old. He is in the top three on the shooting sports team, plays linebacker and fullback in football and is the catcher in baseball. He said he is most proud of becoming the baseball state runner up in 2022.

He said he loves the individual challenge of shooting while also contributing to the overall score of his team, the camaraderie of football and the physical and mental challenge of baseball. The most difficult part to deal with is the mental toll.

He said Coach Jeff Smiley was one of his biggest inspirations. However, his mom is his biggest fan.

“I would like to tell him [Coach Smiley] thank you for all that he has done for me,” Coblesaid.“Hechallengesme to work hard even through tough times and has been a role model to me.”

He said that he has learned quite a bit from playing sports.

“It has taught me perseverance even through the hard times,” Coble noted. “You just have to get back up and keep fighting.”

He said that the three words that describe him the best are versatile, leader and determined. If his team and underclassmen take any of his advice, the one he said he wishes they would hold on to is, “hold down the fort, tough peoplewin,sokeepgrinding.”
