Ladies v Tishomingo

The Lady Redskins got back to Lake Country Conference play against the Tishomingo Lady Indians du ring the early February conference. They also got back to the win column, winning 85 to 33 during the February 1 game.

In the first quarter, Freshman Jacie Herndon was off to a fast start with three field goals. Sophomore Emily Bellettini was right there as well. She had a three pointer and two field goals. Speaking of three-point buckets, Olivia Quapaw had one. Laney French, and Kaya Wiebenber all hit from long range. Quapaw added two free throws to hers. The Lady Indians were in a deep hole after the first quarter, trailing behind the Lady Redskins 24 to eight.

In the second, Herndon found her range and hit two three-pointers. French added another three. Quapaw added a field goal and 2 of 2 from the line. Jayda Foster got to the free throw line and went 3 of 4. Bellettini had a bucket and was 4 of 4 from the line. Coach Chad Rumer’s girls had not cooled off, they put up 23 points, and led at the half time break, 46 to 17.

Junior Kamry Bohannon took charge in the third quarter. She had a three and a field goal and was 3 of 4 from the line. Senior Raegan Davis got busy with two field goals and a free throw. Then, Bellettini added a bucket. Herndon and Foster had buckets themselves. The Lady Redskins were in control and led 64 to 23.

In the fourth, Quapaw said had a three field goals, then a two, and then had another three and another two. She was 1 of 2 from the line. Wiebener was 4 of 4 from the line. Brooklyn Clayborne was 2 of 2 from the line. Bohannon was 2 of 2, Tabitha Arnold, and Foster were 1 of 2 each. It was over quick; the final score was 85 to 33.

Box score: Quapaw lead the team with 20 points, next up was Bellettini who had 15. Herndon with 14 and Bohannon had 9. Wiebener had seven points, French and Foster both had six. Davis with five, Claborne two and Arnold with one. From the line, 25 to 32 for 78 %.

It was quite a scoring onslaught during this game. Ten players made three pointers, and 25 made free throws. Of those 10, Quapaw had three of them. Herndon and French each with two. Bellettini and Wiebener each were 4 of 4 from the line. The 46 points by the half time would win a lot of games.

Ladies v Comanche

Coach Chad Rumer took his 11th ranked, 14 and 5 Lady Redskins to Comanche on February 8 for a Lake Country Conference match up with the Lady Indians. The Lady Redskins led this one wire to wire. Even though the Lady Indians made it closer than it should have been in the fourth, the Lady Redskins won this one 36 to 30.

The Comanche Lady Indians came in with an impressive record, 15 and 2, and the #8 ranking in class 3A. In the first quarter, Kamry Bohannon got off to a quick start with two buckets. Kaya Wiebener had a nice three pointer and Raegan Davis had a bucket. Lanie French had the only bucket for the back court players. At the horn, the Lady Redskins led 11 to 7.

Bohannon and French took care of the scoring for the team in the second quarter. French with two three pointers. Bohannon had two buckets but missed both her free throw attempts. At the half time, the Lady Redskins were in control, 21 to 11.

The third quarter came, and the back court girls got busy. Jaci Herndon hit her first three pointer with laser accuracy. Just to show that was no fluke, she added her second one later. Olivia Quapaw hit a three. Going to the fourth, the lead was now 8, 30 to 22.

Herndon added another three-pointer in the fourth quarter. French had a floater in the paint. The lead at the 4:51 mark was down to 4, 34 to 30. Bohannon added a free throw to her total. The Lady Redskins left with a win, 36 to 30.

Box score: French lead the team with 10 points. Next was Bohannon and Herndon who each had nine. Quapaw and Wiebener both had three and Davis finished with two. From the free throw line, 1 of 6 for the team. The thievery of Bohannon and Herndon was a factor in the game. Bohannon had three steals and Herndon two. The back court trio of French, Herndon and Quapaw accounted for 22 of the 36 points scored by the team.

Ladies v Dickson

The Lady Redskins were unable to bounce back after a loss to Dickson on February. It was a rare Saturday afternoon game to makeup a cancellation due to the weather the previous week when they faced the Sulphur Bulldogs. The Lady Bulldogs won 51 to 43.

The recent habit of digging a hole early continued in the first quarter of this game. In fact, the first bucket was not scored until the 4:00 mark by Laney French. By then, the deficit was climbing. French added a three pointer to her total and Jayda Foster and Emily Bellettini each had field goals. At the end of one, Lady Redskins trailed by 6, 15 to 9.

In the second, Jaci Herndon got hot and hit two threepointers. Kaya Wiebener had a good quarter, she had a two-point bucket and a three-pointer. She missed her only free throw attempt. Meanwhile on the defensive end of the court, the Lady Bulldogs were running away to an 18-point quarter. The Lady Redskins had placed themselves behind the eight ball and trail by 13 going to the half.

Coming out of the locker room, the Lady Redskins new it was an uphill battle. Unable to get anything underneath due to being much shorter, the Lady Redskins went to the air. Herndon had two three pointers, Bellettini and French each had three pointers, Raegan Davis had a bucket. At the close of the third, Sulphur still had the lead 43 to 34. Needing to make up a

Needing to make up a deficit in a short amount of time, Herndon again had a three, Bellettini finally got inside for two buckets as the Lady Bulldogs were guarding the perimeter. Foster got to the line and was 2 of 2. With too far to go and not enough time to get there, the Lady Bulldogs took the win 51 to 43.

Box score: Herndon had 15 points, five three-pointers. Bellettini was next with nine, and French had eight. Wiebener had five, Foster with four and Davis with two. From the free throw line, 2 of 3 was the total. One free throw attempt in the first half and two in the second. By comparison, the Lady Bulldogs were 6 of 10.
