Last Friday, a showdown unfolded at Kingston’s stadium as they faced off against Hugo. The Redskins entered this game with a desire to make amends for their recent loss to Idabel, and they did so in resounding fashion, with eight takeovers on the Redskins defense.

The game commenced with the Buffaloes on the offensive, charging up the field until they were abruptly stopped by the Redskins. Steadily, the Redskins advanced to the 47-yard line, culminating in a pass from Reed Patterson to Eli Oliger, putting the Redskins only seven yards away from the end zone. However, the Buffaloes' defense held, forcing the Redskins to go for a field goal, elevating the score to 3-0 with five minutes and 48 seconds left on the clock.

Following the kickoff, the Buffaloes once again clashed with the Redskins, soon having to surrender the ball; however, after the Redskins takeover they were also forced into a turnover soon after gaining possession. The Buffaloes then took a turn for the worse as they fumbled, allowing the Redskins to recover the ball on the 20-yard line. With Parks Ratliff heading the charge, the Redskins secured their second touchdown, followed by an extra point, extending their lead to 10-0.

After yet another fumble, the Buffaloes found themselves pushed to their own four-yard line, resulting in another turnover. The Redskins capitalized on this opportunity, marching the ball down the field from the 37-yard line until they stood on the two-yard line as the first quarter drew to a close.

The Redskins wasted no time in the second quarter, scoring another touchdown, raising the score to 17-0 after the extra point. The Buffaloes attempted a comeback, but their efforts were dashed by another fumble, recovered by Patterson, which led to a Redskin field goal.

The Buffaloes were again pushed back, ending up on their own four-yard line before yet another turnover allowed the Redskins to start only 37 yards from the goal line. With Delton O’Steen delivering a powerful charge, the Redskins notched their fourth touchdown, a twopoint conversion taking it to 28-0 with three minutes and 52 seconds left in the quarter.

After the ensuing kickoff, the Buffaloes were stalled again and were forced to turn over the ball. The Redskins fumbled as well, allowing the Buffaloes to make it to the 45-yard line before the end of the half.

The Buffaloes kicked off to theRedskinsatthebeginning of the third quarter and, following a series of advances and the contribution of Sam Walker, the Redskins scored another touchdown with an extra point, pushing the score to 35-0 at the eight-minute and three-second mark. The Buffaloes made progress after the kickoff, reaching the 30-yard line, but once again fumbled allowing the Redskins to recover the ball. This presented them with an opportunity to surge forward, with Logan Stevens and Parks Ratliff executing key plays, soon securing their fifth touchdown, increasing their lead to 41-0.

The Buffaloes managed to gather some momentum, advancing until they reached the 40-yard line, but they were stopped when Oliger intercepted the ball for the Redskins. Slowly but surely, the Redskins made their way to the 18-yard line, where O’steen burst through for the Redskins' seventh touchdown, accompanied by another extra point, bringing the score to 48-0 with just one minute and 25 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Following the kickoff, the Buffalos made a brief advance before yet another fumble allowed the Redskins to regain possession, signaling the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter found the Redskins on the 36-yard line. With some small advances and a standout play by Ty Jones, they achieved their eighth touchdown of the game. The subsequent extra point brought the score to 55-0. This commanding lead held as the Buffaloes made a final push, only to be stalled by the Redskins defense until the end of the game.

Stevens attributed this win to focus.

“We just had much better practices and better focus,” Stevens said.

Ratzlaff said the burn from their recent loss is what spurred them into this win.

We came in with a chip on our shoulder and ended up playing well,” Ratzlaff said.

Kingston now looks to carry their momentum into their upcoming clash against Atoka on September 22 at Atoka.
