The match between the Kingston Redskins and the Lexington Bulldogs took place at the Redskins’ stadium on Thursday, October 26. The Redskins played like a team on a mission. In the end, Kingston kept its win streak alive to secure the District Championship for the first time since 2020.

The game opened with the Bulldogs kicking to the Redskins, who returned to the 48-yard line. Moments after, Logan Stevans blitzed across the field, covering 52 yards and scoring the first touchdown, setting the score at 7-0 with Jamie Lewis’s successful extra point at the 11:42 mark. Despite an attempted advance from Lexington,incompletepasses led to a forced punt for the Bulldogs. Kingston’s offense, fueled by Parks Ratzlaff, Stevans, and Reid Patterson, swiftly scored the Redskins second touchdown, bringing the score to 14-0 at the 6:00 mark.

Lexington’s attempts to counter were met with the Redskins’ defense, pushing them back to the 18-yard line before they punted once again. Kingston’s offense capitalized on this opportunity, with Brayden Ellisor and Cash Walker’s plays resulting in a touchdown by Aiden Donnell, bringing the score to 21-0 at the 1:06 mark. The first quarter concluded with Lexington making a push to the 32-yard line before the quarter’s end.

The second quarter saw Lexington trying to drive forward on offense from their 32-yard line, but their efforts were thwarted by the Redskins defense line, leading to a punt. Taking the opportunity, Kingston, led by Hudson Everhart and Ratzlaff, extended their lead to 28-0 at the 7:33 mark. A series of turnovers and interceptions from both teams characterized the quarter, showcasing the defensive prowess of both sides.

The third quarter began with Kingston dashing to the endzone in a performance that expanded their lead to 35-0 with another touchdown by Ratzlaff at the 9:29 mark. A Bulldog fumble and Kingston recovery further solidified the home team’s control, allowing Patterson to perform an impressive 52-yard run for yet another touchdown, raising the score to 42-0 at the 5:22 mark. Even with the Buffaloes’ steadfast defense, Kingston continued to maintain their offensive momentum, with Stevans adding another touchdown, bringing the score to 49-0 at the 1:33 mark.

The final quarter became a series of many turnovers and defensive displays from both teams. In the end, despite their efforts, Lexington couldn’t break through Kingston’s defense, resulting in a resounding 49-0 victory for the Redskins, cementing their status as District Champions.

Looking ahead, Kingston’s upcoming game against Marietta at the latter’s home turf promises to be a thrilling continuation of their impressive winning streak.
