Nickolas Northcutt is a senior at Madill High School. He plays football and basketball and even played baseball his freshman and sophomore years. Nick is the proud son of Jayson and Nikki Northcutt. He has a brother and sister by the names of Nathan and Jaysa Northcutt.

Originally hailing from Tishomingo, and not being a Madill native, Northcutt said his biggest challenge has been moving from a town where his entire family has gone to high school to a place where he knew very little about and didn’t know anyone. He said his favorite memory happened this year when he got a pick six on the first play against his former team, Tishomingo.

He is a member of the Oklahoma Honor Society, National Honor Society, Oklahoma Indian Honor Society. He is currently the Madill FFA Reporter, a Football Captain, and FCA leader. He attends Madill First Baptist Church Youth Group and is a member of The United Church of Tishomingo. He attributes his success to his parents.

“My father has inspired me to be the best person I can be. He constantly reminds me and pushes me to work my butt off and be great,” Northcutt said. “In fact, I want to say thank you to both of my parents for constantly putting up with my hard headedness. Both of you have always pushed me to be the best possible person I can be and trust in the Lord and his plan for me. Thank you for going to every one of my games and cheering me on no matter how big the hassle it is to be there.”

When it comes to sports, Nick said that all his coaches have helped him in so many ways.

“Coach Frederick inspired me to be a better basketball player and most importantly a better person,” he said. “He taught me how a team is supposed to work and just how much a team can grow together and improve.”

“I would just like to thank my coaches for giving me a chance,” Northcutt continued. “I came in at the last minute and they all welcomed me with open arms and let me become a part of the family. I went from not wanting to play football at all to moving a town over because of a coach who cared. That is all that it took for me. Coach Speer is a great example of what a leader should be, he is constantly leading from in front and doing everything he can for the team. Coach Weiberg is always willing to go up to the gym with me and put me through a workout no matter what he has going on and is a huge mentor in my life. He is someone that I will always look up to as a great example of what a man is supposed to look like.”

Northcutt gave advice to the underclassmen that are coming up behind him.

“Don’t let yourself regret not giving it your all.”

After high school he plans on going to college then later starting a family.
