Michael Alley is a Kingston resident and attends Kingston Public School through the after-graduation internship program. He attended the Special Olympics in Durant, Okla. on October 6, 2021, with his partner Judge Jones.

The duo competed in the cornhole tournament against three other schools. Leading up to the competition, the two young men practiced for two weeks straight. Alley said he was nervous because he had never played before beginning practice.

The championship all came down to the final throw with three points left, when Alley fearlessly threw the bag and it landed in the hole. That toss was the reason that Alley and his partner Jones came out victorious, winning first place. Coach Jones said Alley’s hard work paid off at the tournament.

“I am so proud of Mikey. He is such a great young man,” Coach Jones said. “I know how much the Olympics mean to him and all of the other kids that get to compete. For Mikey to win first place shows how hard he worked to get there, as well as what kind of job our special education faculty is doing.”
