The Madill Winter Classic basketball tournament was held December 7 through December 9, The Lady Wildcats stormed the tournament and took 2nd place.

The Madill girls opened up the tournament with a decisive 55-16 victory over Boswell in the first round. The Lady Wildcats got out to a 20-1 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Stifling defense including 23 steals by Madill led to several fast break buckets. A good start to the tourney for the Lady Wildcats, then they moved on to the semifi nal stage.

In semifinal action, the Lady Wildcats continued their offensive onslaught with a 46-26 win over the Durant Lady Lions to advance to the finals on Saturday. Madill’s defense once again was in the spotlight as they created seven takeaways and pulled down a team total of 32 rebounds.TheLadyWildcats shot 40% from the floor and 25% from beyond the arc.

In the final, Madill was handed their first loss of the season by the Purcell Lady Dragons. Purcell beat the Lady Wildcats 61-37 to take the Madill Winter Classic championship. It was Purcell who presented a smothering defenseinthismatchup,posting eleven steals and three blocks. This was a tight game into the third quarter before the Lady Dragons pulled away and sealed the deal to take the championship. Madill’s E’Niyah Holmes was named to the Girls All-Tournament Team for her performance.
