Lady Wildcats advance to regionals after win

The Madill Lady Wildcats overcame a slow start to knock out the Dickson Lady Comets 46-22 and win the district. Dickson set out to stop the Lady Wildcats with tough zone defense, but Madill fought back with a defense of her own and held the lead after the first quarter, 13-2.

As low as the first quarter was, the second was even quieter. Both teams only scored 10 total points in that second period. Luciana Douglass and Arlette Andrade were Madill's only scorers in that quarter. The Lady Wildcats led 17-8 at the half.

Scoring increased in the third quarter when Eryanna Holmes and Douglass hit key three-pointers to extend the Lady Wildcat lead. Dickson scored 10 points in the third, but couldn't keep up with Madill's 14 and that's the closest they got as the quarter ended with the Lady Wildcats leading 31-18.

Madill pulled away in the fourth quarter, holding the Lady Comets to just four points in the quarter. The Lady Wildcats scored 15 points in the quarter to win the game 46-22. Madill had a balanced scoring attack, led by Douglass with 13 on the night. Next up for Madill is a matchup with Locust Grove in the Regional Round.
