Ladies v Dale

TheLadyRedskinsopened the Boomerang Classic Tournament against Dale on December 7. It was tough sledding on the offensive end all night. They did however keep fighting to the very end and made it a ball game in the fourth quarter. The Lady Redskins fell to Byng, 60 to 53.

In the first quarter, ninth graders, Avery Ludrick with five and Olivia McAlister with two was the entire offensive output the Lady Redskins could manage. Meanwhile, the Lady Pirates put up 15 and held the lead by eight after one.

Afterdiggingsuchaholein the first, the Lady Redskins came back with a 13-point effort in the second. Emily Bellettini finally found her stroke and had two buckets. Joli Heydon had a nice quarter with a three pointer and two more buckets. Brylie Barnes connected for a bucket. The score at the half, 31 to 20, advantage Byng.

The third quarter scoring was the best of the game with a 19-point effort. Bellettini got going with a three and two more field goals. Jaci Herndon had a three and a two -oint field goal. Ludrick had two more goals. Heydon had a nice three pointer. The Lady Redskins were still trailing, 48 to 39.

In the fourth, Bellettini hit two free throws with six minutes to play. She went on to go 4 of 4 and a field goal. Jayda Foster got her first bucket.CassidyWalkerhada bucket.Heydonhadtwomore buckets. The Lady Redskins cut the score to, 55 to 53 with 1:26 to play. That was the closest they would come and the final was Byng 60 to 53 over the Lady Redskins.

Box score: Bellettini lead the team with 17 points, she was followed by Heydon, with 14. Ludrick had nine, Herndon five, and Foster, Barnes and Walker all had two points.

Ladies v Cushing

It was a very different game on December 8 against Cushing, with much better results. The Lady Redskins and Coach Chad Rumer won this one from tip off to final buzzer, 56 to 17. Where scoring was the issue during the December 7 game against Dale, that was not the case in this game.

In the first quarter, the Lady Redskins were able to score inside or out. Emily Bellettini had three inside buckets. Jayda Foster had two and a free throw. Jaci Herndon had a three pointer and two free throws. Cushing needed a time out with the score already at 12 to 0. Joley Heldon was 2 of 2 from the line. Cassidy Walker had a free throw. The score after one quarter was 21 to 2.

Rumer pulled back the defense early on in the quarter. With the score 30 to 5, the entire bench was on the court. Bellettini had three more field goals. Walker had a bucket. Herndon was 2 of 2 from the line, Foster was 1 of 2 from the line as was Avery Ludrick. At the half, the Lady Redskins were up 32 to 5.

In the third, the starters played just enough to stay sharp. Bellettini had two buckets and was 1 of 2 from the line. Herndon hit another pretty three pointer. Ludrick had a bucket and two free throws. With the score 43 to 8, the bench took over. After three quarters, the score was 44 to 13.

In the fourth, the bench carried the team home to victory. Kailee Gregg had a bucket and a free throw. Brylie Barnes and Carli Lilley each had buckets. Walker had a busy quarter, she had two buckets and a free throw to add to her total. The final score was 56 to 17.

Box score: Bellettini lead the team with 19 points, followed by Herndon with 10. Walker had eight, Foster and Ludrick both had five. Grigg with three, Holden, Lilley and Barnes all with two points.

Ladies v Keifer

The Kingston girls faced Keifer in the final round of the Boomerang Classic on December 9. The Lady Redskins and Coach Chad Rumer were happy to get a win over Keifer; that made two wins out of three in the tournament.Goodenoughfor the third place trophy. The final score, 59 to 56.

In the first, the Lady Redskins came out hot and put in 21 points and had the defensive pressure turned up. Freshman Avery Ludrick continued to play well. She had two three pointers and a two-point field goal plus a free throw. Emily Bellettini was good for a three and an inside bucket. Jayda Foster had two buckets. Joli Heydon was 2 of 2 from the line. Cassidy Walker was 1 of 2 from the line. After one quarter, the lead was 21 to 12.

Six Lady Redskins were able to score in the second. Coby Davis had four points; Cassidy Walker had a three pointer. Heydon had a bucket as did Ludrick. Foster was 1 of 2 from the line. Jaci Herndon was 3 of 4 from the line. A fifteen point effort was good for a 36 to 22 advantage going in to the half time.

In the third quarter, Foster got back on track with two buckets. Heydon had a bucketandwas2of2fromthe line. Bellettini had a bucket and was 1 of 2 from the line. Herndon was 2 of 2 from the line. It was the lowest point total of the night, but the lead was still 49 to 36 going to the fourth.

Bellettini was the only Lady Redskins to score a field goal in the final quarter, she also was 1 of 2 from the line. Ludrick was 2 of 2 from the line. Herndon began a steady march to the line. By the end of the game, she was 5 of 8. Keifer hit a three at the buzzer that made it a 59 to 56 game, closer than it actually was.

Box score: It was very balanced scoring for the Lady Redskins, Ludrick lead the way with 13 points, Bellettini with 11, Herndon had 10 points (10 of 14 from the line), Foster with nine, Heydon eight, Walker and Davis each with four points.
