The Redskins and Coach Taylor Weibner traveled to Dale Saturday afternoon to take on the Class 2A Number 1 ranked Dale Pirates. That in itself is a tough task. Add the opponent’s record to Dale’s 18 free throw attempts versus Redskins’ three and you travel home with a loss of 63 to 47.

Starting in the first quarter, Brady Brister came out firing and had his best quarter of the season. He had two field goals and a long three. Jase Hayes had a three and a two-point field goal. Jesse Rose had two on a put back. Despite this effort, the Dale Pirates led by two points after the first quarter with a score of Score 16 to 14.

In the second quarter, the Redskins found it tough sledding. Rose, Brister and Tucker Rumer all had two point goals and that was the team total. Meanwhile, the Pirates ran up 18 points. Going into the locker room at halftime, the Redskins trailed 34 to 20. The Pirates were finding treasure via the free throw line with a 10 to 1 (attempts) advantage over the Redskins.

The Redskins started off with a 7-0 run before the free throw parade continued. Despite the good start, all they could manage in the third quarter was Rose and Brister with two field goals each and Cole Morgan hit a three. No free throw attempts. Meanwhile, Dale put up ten points in the quarter with six trips to the charity stripe. At the end of three, Pirates lead the Redskins 44 to 31.

The fourth quarter had Brister continuing his best game to date. He was good for a three and a field goal. Freshman Reid Cason had a bucket, Hayes had two buckets, and Ludrick had a field goal. The big development in the fourth was Ludricks’ free throw and

Hayes had one attempt. Pirates won 63 to 47.

Brister lead the team with 18 points, and no free throw attempts.

Hayes had 11 points and was 0 for 1 from the line.

Rose had 8 points and was 0 for 1 from the line.

Morgan had a three-point goal, and no free throw attempts. Marshall Ludrick had three points including 1 of 1 from the line.

Rumer had two points, no free throw

Cason had two points and no free throw attempts.

The Redskins were 1 of 3 for 33% from the free throw line. By comparison, the Dale Pirates finished 14 of 18 for 78%.

Unless there is a change in the schedule, this will be the final game on the year for the Redskins. They will return to play at Atoka on January 2021.
