Kingston keeps winning streak during district play

The match between the Kingston Redskins and the Marietta Indians took place at Marietta’s stadium on Friday, November 3. The game was filled with close calls and good plays on both sides, but in the end, Kingston celebrated a victory in their last regular season game.

The game kicked off with the Redskins sending the ball to the Indians, who began their opening drive on the 26-yard line. Aden Donnell’s tackle forced Marietta to punt after a short possession, allowing Kingston to take over on the 38-yard line. In a swift offensive move, Parks Ratzlaff broke through Marietta’s defense; scoring the game’s first touchdown at the 8:40 mark, bringing the score to7-0afterJamieLewis’ssuccessful extra-point attempt.

Marietta’s subsequent forward drive took them to the 35-yard line before they were forced to punt again. Kingston’s offense took to the field, and Reid Patterson’s passfoundCashWalker,who sprinted into the endzone, extending the lead to 14-0 with Lewis’s extra point at the 2:00 mark. After the kickoff, Marietta’s advance was cut short when they fumbled at the 35-yard line, with Blane Henry recovering the ball for Kingston with only nine seconds left in the quarter.

The second quarter began with the Redskins on the 30-yard line. A pass to Cash Walker advanced Kingston to the four-yard line, where Logan Stevans scored another touchdown,makingthe score 20-0 at the 11:00 mark. Marietta’s drive took them to the 27-yard line before they punted, allowing Kingston to recover on the 47-yard line. Patterson’s pass to Eli Oliger set up Delton O’Steen for a touchdown, increasing the lead to 27-0 after the extra point at the 6:27 mark.

Despite Marietta’s efforts, they were pushed back to the 30-yard line and had to punt once more. Kingston capitalized on this opportunity, with Patterson passing to Sam Walker for a 37-yard touchdownpass,bringingthe score to 34-0 at the 1:33 mark.

Shortly after the kickoff, Marietta managed to score their first touchdown of the game with a complete pass and a 63-yard dash to the endzone, bringing the score to 34-7 at the 0:23 mark. The Redskins started their drive at the 21-yard line but couldn’t make any major advances before halftime.

The third quarter began with Kingston receiving the Indian’s kickoff and starting their drive on the 36-yard line. Blake Wise took over as quarterback and his charge set up another touchdown, bringing the score to 41-7 after Lewis’s successful extra point attempt at the 9:13 mark. Marietta’s offensive drive was short-lived as they were tackled at the 21-yard line and forced to punt. Kingston took over at midfield, but their drive was stopped, resulting in a turnover.

Marietta capitalized on the opportunity and scored another touchdown, narrowing the gap to 41-14 at the 1:28 mark. Kingston’s subsequent play started on the far 47-yard line, but they couldn’t advance, ending the third quarter with the Redskins in possession.

The fourth quarter saw theRedskinspushingagainst the Indians’ defense. Landon Kirk’s reception took Kingston to the 10-yard line, but they couldn’t make a complete pass for first down, turning over the ball to Marietta. The Indians’ advance was cut short when they fumbled at the 48-yard line, allowing Dalton Beshirs to recover the ball for the Redskins. Kingston’s offense moved to the 21-yard line but were blocked by Marietta’s defense, resulting in a turnover on downs.

Marietta began their offensive drive on the far 21-yard line, advancing to the 45-yard line before the Redskins regained possession. With the clock winding down, Kingston’s Ethan Mowles made a strong run to the 30-yard line, but they were unable to score before time ran out.

With this win, the Kingston Redskins maintained their undefeated streak throughout district play. They finished the regular season with a record of 9-1. They will host Fredrick at 7 p.m. Friday for the first round of the play-offs.
