The Redskins and Lady Redskins are days away from getting the new season under way. November29, Tuesday, will tip off the ‘22/’23 season. Both teams will travel to Atoka to kick off the new season. Currently, the middle school teams areintotheirtournamentgames. Last week, the Redskin Tournament was played, and this week the Madill 7 th and 8 th games are being played. Coaches are juggling the middle school games with the high school practices. The high school regular season looms ahead.

For the Lady Redskins, Head Coach Chad Rumer will be starting his 26 th year of coaching. He will have an experienced squad this season. The senior class will be loaded with six girls who have many games under their belts. Several have been in the starting lineup for multiple years.

The junior class, though somewhat smaller in number, will have four girls who played varsity games last season. The sophomores will have three girls and the freshman, two.

Rumer’s challenge will be keeping his forwards and post players out of foul trouble and on the court. He has the luxury of being able to rotate guards in and out simply because of the depthhehasatthatposition.Any opponent that has faced Rumer’s lead teams know what to expect.

The Lady Redskins will play suffocating defense from end to end. Their plan is to cause turnovers and take advantage of them. As he has stated before “some nights you may have a bad shooting game, but you can defend every night”.

Coach Bobby McAdoo will begin his first year as head coach of the Redskins. He is very well known to the Redskins faithful and he is a former KHS grad and played his college ball at East CentralOkState. Lastseason,he assisted then head coach Taylor Wiebner. Wiebener will focus on the Athletic Director position and McAdoo will carry the torch for the Redskins.
