Brylan James, a 17-yearold senior at Madill High School, has been a part of the Madill public school system since prekindergarten. He is thesonofDanielandLindsay James and has a younger sister named Braylee James. His grandparents are Carla and Rick Clement, as well as Lisa James.

James is actively involved in various sports, including basketball and golf. He also participates in C4Attack AAUBasketball.Throughout his high school years, James has achieved notable accomplishments in basketball. During his junior year, he and his team placed in the LCC conference champions. Additionally, in his senior year, Brylan was selected for the All-Tournament Team at the Madill Winter Classic.

James recalled the joy of winning “The Shoe” tournament during both his junior and senior years as some of his fondest memories. He said he also cherishes the experience of being a part of theLakeCountryConference champions. These moments of success have left a lasting impact on James and have contributed to his love for the game.

He attributed his inspiration in sports to his father, who has been a constant source of support and guidance throughout his basketball journey. He acknowledged the dedication his dad has shown in helping him succeed both on and off the court.

Jamesexpressedhisgratitude to his coach, Brett Weiberg, for his unwavering commitment to his success. Weiberg has been by James’s side since seventh grade, offering guidance and building his resilience and character. Despite Weiberg not being physically present, he continues to check in with James regularly, showcasing his dedication to his players’ growth.

In addition to his coach, James acknowledged the unwavering support of his parents. They have always been there for him, standing on the sidelines as his biggest fans. However, they are also his toughest critics, pushing him to be his best because their criticism comes from a place of love. James’s love for the game of basketball was instilled in him by his parents, both of whom are Madill basketball alumni. He said he feels the weight of their legacy and strives to fill their big shoes.

Looking towards the future, Jamessaidhehasplans to attend the Chickasaw Institute of Technology. He aims to pursue a degree in electrical and HVAC, with the goal of starting his own business in the field. His aspirations showcase his determination and entrepreneurial spirit.

Jamesemphasizedtheimportance of embracing failure as a learning opportunity to his younger classmates. He encouraged setting goals and seeking guidance to achieve them. His words reflect his understanding of the value of perseverance and selfimprovement.
